Marathon des Sables 2010 In aid of Facing Africa / NOMA 'the great adventure!'

The North Weir Trust was set up by two local residents who after several years of living a small town in such a beautiful location among warm and friendly people decided they would like to give something in return to Hay-on-Wye. Over the years they have been asked to sponser individuals undertaking various worthwhile activities such as voluntary work overseas, and many educational projects.

With the valuable help of their solicitor and the advice of the Charity Commission The Nort Weir Trust was set up in 1996 with six trustees and an initial fund of £5000.

The Trust was formed to provide grants for persons wishing to undertake special educational projects at home or abroad and is for the benefit of people living within 10 miles of Hay Town Clock.

We shall be holding fundraising activities over the next two years to raise money for both these charities. All events will appear on the events page, with details of how to get involved. We look forward to a fullfilling couple of of years with plenty of training....culminating in the 'Marathon Des Sables'.

People affected by cancer have told us they need help living their lives, today. The concerns people have are not just medical, they're practical, emotional and financial. How will I get to my hospital appointment? Who will walk the dog? How will I pay the bills when I have to take time off work? Who will listen and understand? Who will help improve the situation - for me and others like me?
